INSTRUCTIONS FOR
SHIPPING GOODS
TAX AND DUTY FREE TO
HONDURAS
Clients of La Ceiba
Shipyard (U.S. Yachts S. de R. L. Zona
Libre) can ship certain marine goods to
their boats without paying import duties or sales
taxes. Goods must be strictly
marine products (new or used). Such
items as foodstuffs ,entertainment goods, etc.,
normally do not qualify for tax exemption. If you
are in doubt about a specific item, please ask
us!
Please
also be aware that paragraphs 6 & 7 of our
Terms & Conditions Provide that materials for
vessel repair need to be purchased through our
ship’s store. We can provide most any marine
engine, generator, water maker, windlass, rigging
etc.
6. - All
supplies associated with vessel repairs in the
shipyard must be purchased through the shipyard
chandlery. In the event the shipyard cannot
provide a specialized item; shipyard management
may grant an exemption.
7. -Only
products and services purchased through the
shipyard qualify for DUTY FREE and TAX FREE
status.
Please
contact us before purchasing items yourself for
duty free treatment so we can advise you
properly. We can provide almost
anything at a lower or equal cost compared to
discount marine outlets plus freight minus duty
and sales taxes landed here in La Ceiba. We
are in the business of providing the very best
service and prices to our clients, but we are in
business to make a profit.
By
shipping through our licensed freight forwarder in
Miami, you can further take advantage of our
volume freight discounts and share customs
clearing costs rather than paying
individually.
You will
be charged for freight charges from our Miami,
Florida port, two per cent insurance on the value
that you declare, plus customs clearance and
delivery to your boat.

An
Invoice must accompany the shipment and be placed
in an envelope attached to one of the cartons in
the shipment and be marked “Invoice”. The invoice
must be specific and state actual value of the
goods. Do not attempt to lump several items
and label them “marine parts” or something
similar. The invoice must be made out

be included in the invoice to identify the

All
freight charges to ITN must be prepaid. Our
forwarder is not authorized to accept collect
freight charges and thus collect freight will be
refused.
A copy of
your invoice, indicating the number of packages,
approximate weight and method of shipment must be
faxed or emailed to us in Honduras when your

In the
event you are in doubt about what you can or
cannot ship, please ask us first! By
being sure, your shipment will come through
without undue customs delays.
In the
event your boat is not at the La Ceiba
Shipyard when the goods arrive, your shipment
will be placed in our customs bond and be released
to you when your boat arrives in the
Shipyard. Customs will not release your
goods unless the boat is actually in the shipyard
or at our docks. Storage charges may accrue on
goods held more than two weeks.
